Sweet Memories

The world lost one of the sweetest souls last night. I received word last night that my Great-Granny passed away. Although I am glad she is no longer suffering, it breaks my heart to know I will never see her smiling face again. Things do have an amazing way of working themselves out. As you may recall, I rushed to photograph this baby's birth who happened to live in the same town as my Great-Granny. Because the baby came early, I was able to see her one last time this past weekend before her beautiful life came to an end.

The past 6 months have been especially rough for her & it was obvious her time was nearing. Yet no matter how prepared you think you are, nothing can truly prepare you for the moment you are told that you will never be able to see a loved one again. If I could have it my way, she would have lived forever - but on the same hand it would've been selfish for me to wish that she continue to live in pain. So I will be grateful for the life she lived, the lessons she taught me, the cookies she baked me, the candy she slipped to me when I wasn't supposed to have anything else before dinner, the horrible soap operas she got me hooked on, and most of all the love she poured on me and my family.

This will forever be one of my most cherished memories of her: the moment she held my son for the first time. The joy in her smile brings me to tears. The twinkle in her eyes show true love and complete joy.

We couldn't even get her to stop beaming over my son long enough to look up for a photo.
And you know what? I'm glad. I don't think I would look on this photo now with such raw emotions if she was staring at the lens.

I love you so much Great-Granny.
May you finally rest in peace.

Kenna, Bella & Jillian - {Sibling Session} - Sneak Peek!

One evening last week, I met these three darling sisters for a session. They are as sweet as they look! We looked for butterflies, rocks, trees and pretty much anything else. They were so excited when we saw butterflies all around and really enjoyed exploring the area.

These are just a few of my favorites from their session! Enjoy. :)

Sam - {Birth Photography} - Sneak Peek!

When Sam's mommy asked me if I was open to doing birth photography, I was a little hesitant. I don't do well with gore, guts and pretty much any bodily fluid. She sent me a few links to other photographer's blogs with what she had in mind and it was then that I decided I would to do it. So for months, I've been waiting eagerly for her sweet baby boy to arrive.

This past Saturday, I got THE call. Her water had broke and it was go time. I rushed around and ran out the door (my bags were packed & ready so I could get out the door at a moment's notice). I arrived at the hospital about 90 minutes before Sam was born. My position was at the head of the bed and never once did I venture south. Everything was captured from the side or the top of the bed.

During her labor, there were so many different emotions. Several times I found myself holding my breath as she was pushing. I laughed as her husband made jokes trying to keep her smiling. And after Sam made his entrance into this world, I cried (and I continue to cry every time I look through these photos).

Words truly can't portray what this experience was like, so I will leave you with a few of my favorite photos from Sam's birth day.

If you've been thinking of having someone photograph your child's birth, I'd love to sit down and talk with you. This opportunity was amazing and I would love to be able to do this again!

David, Bobby & Lilly - {Sibling Session} - Sneak Peek!

Time for another sneak peek into one of my recent sessions!

David, Bobby & Lilly are such cute kids (just see for yourself!) and they all  have BIG personalities. It seems like these kids do it all - from tennis to dance to swimming and a lot more in between. They were fantastic to work with, even in this crazy hot weather we've been having. We managed to get some nice serious portraits as well as goofy ones that showcase their individual personalities! :)

Here are just a few of my favorites!

I hope you guys have a "not bummer summer!" :)

David & Denise - {Engagements & Family} - Sneak Peek!

We met up for this session on a very hot summer evening (not that there is such a thing as a cool summer evening in Dallas). But I think it was great preparation for their upcoming wedding which will be held on a beach. Yes, you read right. A beach! I'm only a little - okay, a LOT - jealous that they will be enjoying a nice ocean breeze as they say their vows. But from what I know from my brief encounter, they deserve only the best!

Denise told me she wanted a few engagement photos of her and David, as well as some photos of their entire family. Their kids had great personalities, each one very distinctive! Even with sweltering temperatures, they made it so much fun. These are just a few of my favorites from their session!

Tucker - {One Year & Cake Smash} - Sneak Peek!

Tucker is a sweet little boy who is turning one this week! We had a fun cake smash last weekend for this grand occasion! He is as sweet as he looks. Like many little ones are, he wasn't sure what to think about the cake at first - but after he had a few licks of frosting, he dug right in! His big brother came along to jump in a few of the shots and was such a good helper. These boys were too cute! I absolutely loved getting to meet this darling little family!

Here are a few of my favorites!

Happy early Birthday, Tucker!!
